Apply by 4th August for BA degree programme in Nursing
Offered jointly by Diaconia University of Applied Sciences (Diak) and Arcada University of Applied Sciences (Arcada), the 3,5-year BA degree programme in Nursing will make you a competent nurse capable of supervising and caring for patients with different levels of health issues. You will acquire a skill set to operate in a variety of healthcare settings, from open counselling centres to intensive care units.
The degree will qualify you as a Registered Nurse with EU competence. You can choose to work with children, youth, adults or elderly in Finland, the rest of the Nordic countries or further abroad.

Applying in separate application
You can apply to this Bachelor’s programme in a separate application which will take place from 28 July until 4 August 2022 in Studyinfo Service. The application closes on 4 August at 3:00pm (EEST).
Student selection in this separate application is based on the performance in the International UAS exam, which was organized in January – March 2022. You can apply with your International UAS exam result.
To be able to apply with your UAS exam result, you need to have completed all the UAS exam sections that were required when applying to Social and Health care field in the Joint Application, spring 2022. You don’t have to have applied to Diak in the Joint Application 2022, but you need to have completed the required sections in the International UAS exam.
The sections you need to have passed in the UAS exam are listed below:
First phase
- Reasoning skills
- English language
- Mathematical skills
- Ethical skills
- Finnish/Swedish language
Second phase
- Group interview
- Finnish/Swedish oral language skills test
Applicants are required to have skills in Finnish/Swedish. The minimum requirement is level B1 on the Common European framework for languages. If you did not attend the oral Finnish/Swedish language test in the UAS exam, language skills can also be demonstrated by the following documents:
- Primary and lower secondary education certificate (Finnish/Swedish mother tongue or Finnish/Swedish as a second language)
- General upper secondary education certificate (Finnish/Swedish mother tongue or Finnish/Swedish as a second language)
- Matriculation examination certificate (Finnish/Swedish mother tongue or Finnish/Swedish as second language)
- International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma (Finnish/Swedish: language A or B)
- European Baccalaureate (EB) diploma (Finnish/Swedish: L1, L2 or L3)
- Reifeprüfung (RP) / Deutsche Internationale Abitur (DIA) diploma (Finnish as native language or B1-language)
- National certificates of language proficiency (Finnish/Swedish intermediate or advanced level)
- Civil service language proficiency certificates (Finnish/Swedish satisfactory, good, or excellent skills).

Submitting the UAS exam result
If you applied to Diak in the joint application, spring 2022, we can see your UAS exam result directly from the system. In this case, you don’t need to submit your UAS exam result.
If you did not apply to Diak in the joint application, spring 2022, but you have passed the exam sections required for this programme in the UAS exam, you can apply in this separate application. In this case, you must attach the result of your UAS exam result to your application form. Please request an extract of your UAS exam result from the university of applied sciences to which you applied in the joint application. The extract must include your exam points for each exam section. The extract must be official, for example electronically signed by the UAS.
Eligibility

the studies required for graduating from the Finnish upper secondary school or a Matriculation Examination;

an International Baccalaureate (IB) degree;

a European Baccalaureate (EB) Diploma;

a Reifeprüfung (RP) or Deutsches Internationales Abitur (DIA) degree;

a Finnish vocational upper secondary qualification covering 120 credits or 180 competence points or a corresponding earlier Finnish vocational degree covering at least 80 credits;

a Finnish post-secondary or higher vocational level diploma;

a Finnish vocational upper secondary qualification or a further or specialist vocational qualification as a competence-based qualification, or a comparable previous qualification;

a foreign qualification that provides eligibility for higher education studies in the country in question;

Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, postgraduate licentiate and doctoral degrees.
