Read about the services of the library and information services.
1. Is there a fee to reserve books?
Reservations are free of charge. You can reserve books on Finna. You will receive an email notification when you can pick it up. Make sure you collect the reserved title or cancel the reservation if you no longer need it. We will charge a fee for uncollected reservations 1 euro/item.
2. How do I renew a loan?
You can renew your loans online via Finna, by sending an email request to the library’s customer service or by calling the library. Each loan can be renewed up to 20 times provided that the title hasn’t been reserved by another customer.
3. Can I borrow a book from another branch of Diak library, if my local branch doesn’t have it?
Customers can request an interlibrary loan by contacting the library’s staff, if the item in question is not available at your local library. Interlibrary loans are free of charge for Diak students and staff members; a charge is made for this service for other customers.
You can reserve a title held at another Diak campus library online only if you will collect it in person.
If the title is not available at any branch of Diak Library, it can be requested from another library (charges apply), or you can make an acquisition request.
4. What should I do if I have lost my library card?
You must notify the library immediately if you lose your library card. Your card will be blocked to prevent unauthorised use. You can get a new library card by presenting proof of identity and paying a card replacement fee of €3.
5. Can I lend books on to my friends?
The customer is responsible for all library materials borrowed on his or her card. If your friend doesn’t return the book, you will be liable for late return fines and the cost of replacing the book.
